10 Universities Offering Scholarships To Information Technology Students

Hi Tribe,

I hope everyone is doing great. I am warm and grateful the snow has given us a short break on my side of the world. I’m excited to share 10 Universities that offer IT scholarships to students planning to study in the United States.

I know how hard and time-consuming it can be to fish out schools that offer some form of assistantship or scholarship for graduate students. This is not anywhere close to an exhaustive list, but a jump-start for anyone looking to further their graduate education in Information Technology.

Below are 10 Universities Offering Scholarships to Information Technology Students who want to earn a Masters or Ph.D Degree.

1) Illinois State University

I was pretty impressed with what this university offers its students. Following due processes, application, and acceptance, all graduate assistantships include a full tuition waiver and a monthly stipend with 10 or 20 hours of work per week. You literally go to school for free, earn money, and build your resume at the same time. It doesn’t get any better. Find out more about their admission requirements and graduate assistantships.

2) Oregon Institute of Technology

This university offers a similar package to Illinois State University. The only catch I noticed is that assistantship has been typical for 2 years and is extended to the third and/or final year under special circumstances. Most master’s degree programs run for 2 years, so ideally the student will be covered. I’m not sure of what circumstances qualify as special, but my guess is there will be considerations for an extension if you need an assistantship beyond 2 years. 3) University of West Florida

This university offers a year-round work appointment, a full tuition waiver of up to 9 credits, and up to $14,000 in stipend. They also only offer a master’s degree program in information technology. If this sounds interesting to you, check out their admission requirements and more about their graduate assistantships

4) Stevens Institute of Technology

This university did not clearly specify the monetary amount for graduate assistantships. However, they describe that students awarded teaching or research assistantships may receive tuition and fees for a certain number of courses and a stipend, in exchange for 20 hours of work per week. Find out more about their admission requirements and graduate assistantships.

5) Dakota State University

This university offers 1/3 of the state-supported tuition rate, a monthly stipend, and up to 19.5 hours of work per week. The exact stipend amount wasn’t specified. To find out more, check out their admission requirements and graduate assistantships.

6) University of South Florida

This university offers a signature doctoral fellowship award that includes $18,000, full tuition waiver, and payment of student fees. There are minor departmental fundings available for a master’s degree. To find out more, check out their admission requirements and graduate assistantships.

7) Georgia Southern University

This university offers graduate assistantship sponsored by both academic and non-academic units. This simply means you have more options as a student, regardless of your department. The benefits also include a stipend and full tuition waiver. Visit their website for more information on admission requirements and the graduate assistantship

8) Emporia State University

I first heard about Emporia State University a few weeks ago. The first thing that got my attention was definitely the name ‘Emporia’. I checked them out and it is definitely a great and generous school. Graduate assistantship includes a tuition waiver and a bi-weekly stipend based on 20 hours of work per week. Check them out for more information on admission requirements and the graduate assistantship.

9) Penn State University

Penn State is a well-known school for studies related to sciences and technology. They also have a very generous graduate program. Appointments cover tuition and provide a stipend. There are variations to the coverage for tuition and credits per semester. To learn more, visit their website for admission requirements and the graduate assistantship

10) Eastern Illinois University

The last but certainly not the least also offers similar coverage. The assistantship provides a monthly stipend and a tuition waiver. To learn more, visit their website for admission requirements and the graduate assistantship

It is important to note all these assistantships are limited and not guaranteed. I advise you do the following:
1) Prepare a very strong application
2) Apply very early
3) Follow up periodically with the department chair after application
4) Apply to as many schools as possible

I hope this helps someone. Please, comment below if you attended a school in the United States that offers assistantships or scholarships that is not on this list. Also, let me know your thoughts on this list.

Make it a Winning-Day
