So, I have a confession!
If you follow me on Instagram, you would know by now – I WENT HOME!!!!
I still get butterflies in my tummy talking about my trip. It was a much needed vacation and I had a swell time. Special thanks to my AMAZING parents! Last year, I carried my big mouth and shared my goals with you. In the spirit of accountability, let’s see how I did. *heart beats a little fast*
Crazy Faith Series (Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3). I also talk about faith in my US Visa Series (Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3). The Simple Math about Life never gets old.
I’m very motivated to do more this year. With the help of the Holy Spirit, I will do A LOT better. For 2017, my goals to get closer to God remain the same, but with more effort.
recap of 1st year as a doctoral student. The recap of the second year will be up at some point…lol.
This year, my goal is also to publish at least two more first-author research articles, with at least one from my dissertation.
list of my published articles exponentially. In 2015, I published on Bella Naija, CosmopolitanNigeria, Words are Work, The Naked Convos and Glam Africa. In 2016, I did not write as much as I planned to. It was mostly tied to the intensity of my program among other things. This year, I’m getting back on the saddle.
Words are Work, where I ran a column on relationships with the boss of WAW – Chisom Martin. That was one of my best experiences on collaboration and I miss it; but school really got tight last year. However, things will be different this year! I’m looking forward to hosting giveaways, running series with other bloggers/vloggers, creating lessons and E-courses, and organizing/participating in events and conferences – FOR REAL THIS TIME…lol.
Dear readers, recommend me!
6) Travelling
This is where I scored 1000%! I traveled in 2016! I visited: a) Tampa ; b) New Orleans; c) Vancouver ; d) Scotland ; e) England ; f) Denver; g) Victoria. This as one of the perks of pursuing or having a PhD. Travelling was one of the highlights of my year. I learned a lot of things and also got to know myself more. Based on how my year is looking, I don’t know if I’ll be able to travel as much. But I hope to visit at least two new places, hopefully outside the US.
7) Exercise
This is a new goal for 2017. I’m not particular about losing weight, but I want to have an active & fit lifestyle. In line with this, I want to eat more healthy meals.
8) Graduate
Whoop! Whoop! This is the year my people. I’m trusting God that everything goes well and I bag that PhD. I’m also in the process of searching for jobs. I will definitely write about the process, especially for international students like me.
For me, the highlights of 2016 were: traveling, publishing my first research article, passing my qualifying exams and becoming a PhD candidate, and defending my dissertation proposal.
There you have it!
These are the goals I’ve set for this year. 2016 was awesome; I’m looking forward to an even better 2017.
I wish you an awesome year.
Tell me about your accomplishments last year and any goals you have this year?!?.
